1956 A branch of the Ottoman Bank, which was partly owned by Banque de Paris et des Pays-Bas (Paribas), opens in Doha.

1972 Claude de Kémoularia, advisor on international trade to the Paribas President, visits Qatar in July 1972 and submits an official request to H.E. Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Minister of Finance, to open a Paribas branch in Doha.

Paribas Doha receives agreement in principal to open a branch.

1973 Paribas branch opens in Doha in June 1973 under the management of Robert Lambert.

1974 Paribas President, Jacques de Fouchier, meets the Emir, H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani and several members of his government.

1998 Paribas Chief Executive Officer André Lévy-Lang visits Qatar to celebrate the Bank s 25th anniversary in the Arabian Gulf.

2000 Banque Nationale de Paris (BNP) and Paribas merge to form BNP Paribas.

2006 BNP Paribas Chairman, Michel Pébereau, joins a delegation that accompanies the French President, Jacques Chirac, on an official state visit to the Gulf. Pébereau visits Qatar, where he has an audience with H.H. the Heir Apparent of the State of Qatar, H.R.H. Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and meets several members of the government.

2008 BNP Paribas Qatar celebrates its 35th anniversary and opens its new headquarters in the Al Fardan Towers.

2009 Jean Lemierre, Advisor to the Chairman, visits Qatar, and meets with H.E. Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, Prime Minister of Qatar as well as senior ministers and regulators.
